India's Green Hydrogen Mission

India's commitment to Green Hydrogen was underscored by the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Mission in January 2023, with a substantial investment of Rs. 19,744 crores. The mission aims to achieve a green hydrogen production capacity of 5 MMT (Million Metric Tonnes) by 2030. Noteworthy progress includes the awarding of tenders for 412,000 tonnes of Green Hydrogen production capacity and 1,500 MW of electrolyzer manufacturing capacity.

Guidelines and Initiatives

India has also taken significant steps to promote the use of Green Hydrogen across sectors such as steel, transportation, and shipping, through the notification of scheme guidelines. Additionally, the Department of Science and Technology has initiated Hydrogen Valley Innovation Clusters to foster innovation in the Green Hydrogen ecosystem.

Centralized Information Hub

To provide stakeholders with easy access to information about the National Green Hydrogen Mission and related developments, India recently launched a dedicated portal: National Green Hydrogen Mission Portal. This portal serves as a centralized hub for updates and resources pertaining to India's green hydrogen initiatives.
